- You are concerned about your 3 – 12 year old, and want help understanding how to turn things around
- You want information and support to better manage a specific problem, or set of problems
- You would like to help your child learn to manage feelings more effectively and behave more appropriately
If you feel stuck, angry, frustrated, or sad, and are worried about your child, you are in the right place. Parent Coaching provides a judgment‑free space in which to describe what is happening, and learn how to handle it differently.
It might be just one child, a child whose needs and demands, issues and sensitivities leave you concerned and exhausted. Or maybe it’s parenting more broadly. Or trying to balance parenting with other responsibilities.
Parent Coaching is not therapy. Your child(ren) will not be directly involved. I’m not going to make a diagnosis, or probe your past. Instead, I will help you turn your loving intentions into specific, effective action.
We’ll talk about temperament (yours and your child’s), and about development. I’ll help you understand why your child is doing what they are doing, and how to help them get their needs met in less problematic ways.
We’ll talk about how to connect with your child, how to empathize with their painful feelings without capitulating to them. We’ll figure out what to DO.
Parent Coaching is done in person or remotely (by phone or an online conferencing platform) with an individual parent or parents. Coaching sessions are scheduled at your convenience, at whatever frequency you need.
Please download the Parent Coaching Service Agreement for additional details including fees for Parent Coaching.
Need Help Deciding?
Parent Coaching will always be available, whether or not you have taken part in therapy with your child, or done a Life-Skill Intensive. If, however, your child takes part in a Life-Skill Intensive, we cannot shift to therapy, nor can we go in the other direction, from therapy to a Life-Skill Intensive.
